Showreel Editing
Made for performers. By performers.*
*Who also just so happen to be pro editors ;)
Book dream gigs with a reel that gets to the heart of who you are as a performer.
Hi, I’m Josh. I’m an actor and filmmaker with 20+ years in the industry. I’ve worked in film, voice over and commercials and edited for clients including the BBC, ITV and GSK.
As a result, I’ve developed an understanding of the industry from both sides of the camera, and I know how impactful a well edited showreel can be for getting you the work you want.
Whether you’re a TV/film actor or a voice actor looking to get your best gaming, animation or explainer work showcased, I’d love to help you out.

VT Showreel Package - How it works
1
Send me your scenes
The first thing to do after booking with me is to send over all the footage you’d like in your reel. This can be done easily via Wetransfer or Dropbox.
If you don’t have a copy of all of your footage and it’s online somewhere (iPlayer, Netflix, YouTube, etc.) I can source it for you at no extra charge.
2
Initial discussion
We’ll then arrange a convenient time to discuss what you’d like the reel to include. I usually suggest we do this over Zoom so we can review your footage together. Some people have exact time codes of what moments they’d like, others like more input from me to decide what works.
Our goal is to agree a rough scene order / concept by the end of the call.
3
First cut
Based on our discussion, I’ll put together a first cut of your reel and send it to you for review.
If there’s something you/your agent would like me to change, add or remove at this point, let me know.
4
Final cut
If you did have any changes, I’ll tweak away, before rendering and delivering your reel in HD, ready for your website / your agent’s website / Spotlight / world domination.
FAQs
-
Usually 2-3 mins, certainly no longer than 5. There’s no need to make a reel last longer than it needs to, so if your final running time comes in at 1-2 minutes but features work you’re really proud of, that’s great.
-
Quality over quantity is king, here. If you are in five scenes but don’t particularly like a couple of them, better to focus on the three that showcase your very best work and feature you most prominently. (We can always work some editing magic to make you more prominent.)
-
As a rough guide, it’s a good idea to keep each scene less than 1 minute, but it depends on the scene and how it contrasts with the other scenes in your reel. A mix of pace is great.
-
Casting directors are pretty unanimous in their dislike for montages - they just want to see you act! If you’d like to include some nice shots of you, a good compromise can be to include them at the end. But they’re not strictly speaking necessary for acting showreels.
-
I ask for a 50% deposit on booking, with the remaining 50% (plus any extras you’ve opted to add) on delivery of final cut.
I accept payment either by card or bank transfer.

No two reels are the same, but I endeavour to send you a first cut within 48 hours of our initial call. If I anticipate it taking longer, I’ll let you know when we speak.
Once I’ve sent the first cut, I’ll wait to hear from you about any small tweaks. Depending on the tweaks, these can often be done within 24 hours. Again, I’ll give an estimate at the time.

Not generally, but if this is something you’d be interested in, let me know.
